WELCOME

Inspired by our enduring faith in the love of Jesus Christ, and rooted in daily prayer and worship, we improve the lives of youth and adults in our community by nourishing bodies, minds, and souls through our various ministries.

Hurricane Helene Relief

We have graciously decided to match donations up to $10,000.00.

In our continued efforts to help support those who have been impacted by Hurricane Helene, The Sisters have chosen to support the Episcopal Relief and Development organization providing help on the ground in areas that need it. To stretch fundraising capabilities ERD has added a box to their donation screen for your Employer/Company to match your donation. Please make sure to enter Society of the Transfiguration to the employer match box for your contribution to be matched. Every little bit helps and remember even the gift of $1 becomes $2 thanks to the generosity of the CT!

About Us

The Community of the Transfiguration is a religious order in the Episcopal tradition, founded in 1898 in Cincinnati, Ohio by Mothers Eva Mary Matthews and Beatrice Martha Henderson.

The Sisters of the Transfiguration are women, lay and ordained, living together under religious vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience in our convent in Glendale, north of Cincinnati, Ohio, as well as a branch house in northern Ohio. We have come from many parts of the country and have varied backgrounds, but all are dedicated to a common life sharing the love of Christ according to our various gifts.

Our primary and most essential ministries are prayer and worship, both of which strengthen us to serve wherever we are called.

The Divine Office and the Daily celebration of the Holy Eucharist are the heartbeat of a Religious Community. We come together throughout the day to offer Psalms, prayers and hymns in praise to God and in intercession for the needs of individuals and the world. The Daily Office links us together in Christ with those for whom we pray and with all of God's people across space and time. As Episcopalians and as part of the Anglican Communion, we are heirs of a rich and varied liturgy. Our Offices are based on those in the Book of Common Prayer.

Our current work in the world includes Bethany School, the Transfiguration Spirituality Center, St. Monica’s Recreation Center, Food for the Soul, Tabor House in Butler, OH and Transfiguration North Carolina.
