Stewardship

At Transfiguration North Carolina, “Stewardship” is all about RELATIONSHIP.

Stewardship is  “taking care” and nurturing

the land, waters, plants, animals, stones—

all of the “more than human world”

Stewardship is caring for all the people who are drawn to come here by providing a safe and natural place for each one, to be able to “let go” and relax into our own True Nature as human beings.

First and foremost, we acknowledge that this land and waters are the Ancestral land of the Cherokee. According to the terms of the Cherokee removal (May 25, 1838 – 1839) and in the Treaty of New Echota, (1835) these native inhabitants were here just over 60 years before the Sisters arrival in 1897.

It has always been the Sisters wish that this place be kept as much as possible with a “very light footprint” and that it be protected.

Thanks to Conserving Carolina, in 2016 and in relationship with them, the Society of the Transfiguration was able to create a “Conservation Easement” which assures this place will be kept safe for all time. Together with Conserving Carolina the Sisters crafted a “VISION” that has always served us as a standard for all events held here.

Mountains. Foothills. Rivers. Farms.
For Nature and People. Forever.

Everything we do here is always in a context of small groups so that the “light footprint” is kept, and participants who come here are able to enjoy the safety and sanctity of this special place through retreats and activities that provide a deepening relationship with oneself, the land, and all beings.

Part of the beauty of what you will find in the EVENTS here are how they each help to increase awareness—self-awareness and mindful awareness of the living RELATIONSHIPS with Nature—and all of life.

Conserving Carolina provided a “launch” for our beginning activities and this continues to grow and expand as the creative people who come here bring their many gifts and ways of connecting these relationships between the land and people through Nature and Forest Therapy in multiple forms—Forest Bathing, mindful movement, art, music, writing, meditation, fly fishing, and yoga!
