St. Monica's
Recreation Center |
|
|
| St Monica's
Recreation Center began in one (very large) farm house,
but has grown into a complex of play areas. One addition to the original
building houses two multipurpose rooms, used primarily for games, like
ping pong, foosball, checkers, monopoly, puzzles, lego and the like. In
the same area are smaller rooms for watching videos, doing
crafts and playing "house."
Whether
the day is cold and snowy or hot and muggy, St. Monica's climate
controlled "covered playground" is always popular. Inside the
special building there are swings, climbing toys and other
playground
equipment, surrounded by a sea of cushioning rubber chips. Another
favorite activity is basketball, played on the outside courts.
Each summer small groups of children from St. Monica's
Center spend a week of vacation at Tabor Cottage in northern Ohio.
Here they have fun riding bicycles, going to a nearby amusement park,
fishing and relaxing together. At the same time they learn about
their Amish neighbors, enjoy dining out, and experience a different way of
life. |
