Our
Mother House, the Community's "home base,"
is in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Normally there are 25 to 30 Sisters at the Mother House, including those
in the Novitiate. In addition to the Convent, St. Mary's Home,
Bethany School and several guest houses are located on our grounds. St.
Monica's Recreation Center is about two miles away, in Lincoln Heights.
On the Cincinnati page you will find links to information about each of
these ministries.
Sisters of the Transfiguration have served in
the Caribbean since the 1930's. For many years Sisters worked in
Ponce, Puerto Rico with "street boys," and in the jails. In 1984 two
Sisters were sent to San Pedro de Macoris, in the Dominican Republic. They
began a ministry to the children and families of Barrio Las Flores, an
impoverished area (one of many) where there is a continual need for food, clean water, basic shelter and
medical care.
Recently, at the request of the Bishop of Puerto Rico, a
Sister and an Oblate of the Community have returned to Ponce to
explore ways the Community might again serve there.
Finally, for many years members of our Community lived
and worked in San Mateo, California. Among other ministries, the
Sisters welcomed many to a camp and retreat center called "St. Dorothy's
Rest." Currently we have two Sisters who live and work in Eureka,
California. Theirs is primarily a ministry of hospitality, retreats and
spiritual companionship.
